An Updated Beauty From the Past

A little while ago a pair of 1960's wall sconces caught my eye while looking around Etsy. I just had to order them. When they arrived they were painted a bright yellow but had a couple of spots where they majorly needed a touch up. I decided to repaint them.

Thats when my imagination took over and below is the end result.

This pair of baroque style, upcycled, vintage wall sconces add a touch of elegance and class to any room and are 100% one of a kind.

They are hand painted a beautiful yellow, dark purple, and black. They are then varnished for added durability and scratch prevention.

They are 13 inches tall, 4 1/2 inches wide, and the candle holder comes out about 5 inches from the wall.

I think they turned out beautifully and I enjoyed the process so much that I may just find other vintage items I can make shine again.

Does anyone know of a store with reasonably priced, untouched vintage items?

Look at me messing up already :o)

Yeah so I know I am really late with this post. Eclipse came out and was amazing and I never posted my Eclipse items. This was due to a delay in shipping on the supplies I ordered to make them with and the birth of three beautiful babies to my family and friends around me. I have been spending alot of time with them.

Although it is not all the items I had planned to create I would like to share with you the two Eclipse themed items I did finish.

The first is a pendant that I sculpted from polymer clay, hand painted, and then varnished for added strength and protection.

This pendant incorporates the book covers from all four of the Twilight Saga novels.

In the center stands the chess piece from the cover of Braking Dawn, on top of that a juicy red apple from Twilight, the red ribbon from Eclipse gently wraps around to the left, and the feather from New Moon gently wraps around to the right.

Pendant measures about 1 1/2 inches tall. It comes ready to wear on a 24 inch matching red, lead free, ball chain.

The second item is a vase that is almost the same design as the pendant.

This Twilight Saga vase is one of a kind, hand sculpted, and incorporates all four of the book covers into it.

This is a glass vase that has been completely wraped in polymer clay. It is then sanded, hand painted, and varnished.

The bottom is a very realistic looking apple from Twilight, on top of this sits a white chess piece from the cover of Breaking Dawn, cascading down and gently wrapping around the vase is the red ribbon from Eclipse, and the flower from the cover of New Moon lays gracefully in the center.

This is an absolute one of a kind vase. It stands about 9 1/2 inches tall with a 2 inch opening at the top. There is great attention to detail in each part of it, including the nubs at the bottom of the apple. (See Picture)

Both of these items are available for sale in my Etsy shop. Thank you for looking!

A Formal Introduction

I would love to give you a little introduction to just one of my addictions. Making jewelry. Her is some of jewelry I will be creating and selling on my Etsy store. I will even be creating tutorials for a few of the pieces.

When I am making jewelry I prefer to sculpt my pendants out of polymer clay. This gives me complete creative freedom to create what ever my heart desires.

Polymer clay is a oven hardening clay that is extremely strong and durable after it has been baked. I then hand paint most of my charms and add varnish for even more added strength and protection.

The only problem I seem to encounter is not being able to get all the ideas out of my head fast enough. They are constantly swirling around and I tend to forget about them if I can't write it all down.

If you have an idea you would like to see turned into reality please let me know! Custom orders are always welcome :o)

I hope that you enjoy my creations as much as I enjoy making them.

Welcome to my new beginning

Everyone has something that makes them feel good. Something that completely relaxes them and puts their mind at ease. For me it is crafting. As far back as I can remember, making something with my hands has always been a way for me to escape reality for a few minutes and dive into the world that exists only in my head. A magical place where anything can happen. My biggest dream has always been to open my own successful art and gift shop featuring my works.

This year I will be turning 25 and my daughter will be starting kindergarten. Up until this point I have spent the years since her birth at home trying to manage and maintain my hectic but beautiful family and home. My artistic dreams have somewhat been placed on the back burner during this process. Now I am faced with a choice. I can go out and get a job of some kind working nine to five like most of the world or I can continue to stay at home and focus on my artistic side to see if there is any possibility of financial success in store for me in this field. So I have decided (against a few people's better judgment) to give the lucrative life of a professional artist a try. At least for a while anyway.

With this blog I hope to help out others who share my same dream, collect some good advice, and create connections in the crafting and artistic community. I will post many tutorials and try to educate as much as possible. After all knowledge is power and I have learned that you can teach yourself anything as long as you have the information. I also welcome any tips and information you have to offer as I am always looking to better my skills as well.

So, here I go, off on a adventure that some may call me crazy for. I have created a store on Etsy. Lets see exactly what is possible when you put your mind to it.
